Easter Weekend 2016

Hannah and I want to go to LegoLand. So we got out the calculator and the Internet and priced out for a grand total of just under $4,000. No dice. We will never get there. I was really sad and so I started to see what people did to make it more affordable and I found out that in Kansas City there is a LegoLand Discovery Center. Not LegoLand, but an affordable experience. So I bought tickets and we went to Crown Center in Kansas City. I was very clear with her that this was not the amusement part and I did not intend for it to be a substitute experience in any way--just something fun to do. She was excited and was very well behaved. We rode the rides and saw a 4-D movie and she played all afternoon. Then we went and got food.

Here is she is riding the Harry Potter Lego ride.

Taking all Saturday for the Lego Discovery center meant that we couldn't color eggs until Easter Sunday. Hannah didn't mind at all. She did a really good job minding the eggs and the colors turned out beautiful.

Then we were invited to an Easter dinner/Egg hunt with some people from church. Hannah really liked egg hunting and the other kids were nice and there were LOTS of eggs, which really helped everyone be civil.

When she got home, she sorted and counted her candy. It rivaled her Halloween bounty.

And that was Easter 2016. It was probably our best Easter since we have been here. It was really fun to have her participate in the festivities more and it is nice that she is old enough to go to a kid place and play and behave all afternoon. What a great little girl she is.

Oh awesome! What a fun time and a great memory maker. Good job Mom! It's always fun to watch your child be happy and play and enjoy themselves. Looks like a great time.

Wrapping up the Year (and Decade)

Christmas was nice. The weather was good and I was able to run like I usually do. I served a Thanksgiving Dinner because I spent Thanksgiving in Pennsylvania with my sister. The Year-Long January

The joke is that January is the longest month of the year. I thought it went quickly. Classes started and winter cold set in. We went to the eye doctor and Hannah waited for the doctor so long, she grew a beard.  Ultimately she decided on glasses that would make her look like Supergirl. I think she really pulled it off. All month I was on pins and needles about the government shutdown trying to decide if it was safe to fly to a conference. Luckily for me, the poor TSA workers and federal folks were able to get back to work. However, the planes I took (4 in all) were mostly empty and I got a row to myself. There was also a polar vortex that didn't help air travel looks appealing. I got there late at night and the room they had left was a large hotel suite. I took it. My colleague Michael Dunn and I divided our presentation up. We both did well. I also found a few good folks from Kansas. Then, I left Indy. When I wasn't worki...

Graduation and Mother's Day

It was my turn to help with activity night at church so I brought my graduation robes and so forth and let the little girls take turns all dressed up. Here of the pillow announcing Mother's Day.  As it turns out, there is an actual graduation song.     I went to convocation and read the names again.    Then, Mother's Day actually arrived. Here is my custom drawn picture.
